You refer to transition as being the same as anti-gay conversion therapy and as something to target lesbians to make them 'more socially acceptable' as straight men. How does this factor in with the existence of gay trans people like me who never identified as gay until discovering that they were trans? I never identified as a lesbian because I've never been attracted to women, so when I transitioned I went from being perceived as cis and straight to a gay trans man.

My understanding from reading multiple studies, as well as hearing from several lesbians and detransitioned women, is that the vast majority (upwards of 90%) of self-identified trans men were lesbian prior to transition. It sounds like you have been reading my blog, so you’ve seen the posts I’ve made regarding lesbians who felt or feel a huge amount of pressure to transition to trans men. This phenomenon has increased in the last decade or so.

However, I know there are people like you who were attracted to men pre- and post transition, too, so thanks for pointing that out.

There is also a phenomenon of girls/women who were initially lesbian, but after injecting testosterone, identify as gay male. I have read several articles and blogs about this, many of them highly critical of this “transformation.”

Would any of my readers care to comment on any of this?
