Two points: 1. I think the medical and psychological professions should take very seriously a person hating and “disagreeing with” their body. I just strongly question the idea that the proper treatment for that self-hate is surgically and chemically altering the hated body, rather than attempting to bring the mind in alignment with the body. I happen to think that is a reasonable position to take. 2. If an adult is ok with being infertile due to treatments he or she agrees to, that’s fine. But I strongly disagree with the current notion that adults have the right to choose infertility for their children, before those children have the brain capacity to make such decisions for themselves. And neuroscience has shown us that that decision making power is not truly developed until the mid-20s.
