re: the 16yo: it's worth noting that dysphoria is a very common phenomenon in young female people. Puberty is uncomfortable, and being seen/understood as Woman can be unbearable. I remember sitting in bed at night during and after puberty, longing for a male body, physically pained for want of it, and deeply uncomfortable with my changing fat distribution. Many of us older folk are scared for you bc we know if we had been exposed to the popular trans narrative young, we would have transitioned.

Absolutely right and thank you, Anon. We are scared and concerned for these young women because we’ve been there.

I have heard from (and read the writings of) several women who say “there but for the grace of god(dess) go I”: If I’d been born earlier, I’d have transitioned (or my parents would have wanted me to).

I am actually looking for women like you to guest post on my WordPress blog about this very important reality. Anyone who would like to do so (with full anonymity), please write to my Ask box here and spread the word. One of the problems now is that young women don’t have enough role models like you, Anon–women who’ve gone through some level of dysphoria and come out the other side.
