"if trusted adults are saying, “oh yeah, you really ARE the opposite sex, we’ll call you by male pronouns”, etc. it will make it difficult if not impossible for them to change their minds." Okay but if this is true then literally how could there be trans people in the first place?

I’m not sure what you’re saying exactly. The point is, kids are impressionable; they learn, they change. All the data we have says the majority of dysphoric children grow out of it, with a small percentage persisting. Even gender specialists know this. We have to care about that majority of children and make sure we don’t condition them to think they need to “transition” later–given that transition involves drugs and surgery and likely sterilization. Think about how difficult it would be to change your mind if everyone in your school, your family, and even in the media (lots of these little kids are being paraded in front of reporters and cameras) has proclaimed you “trans.”

If you’re saying that a trans “gender identity” is innate and baked-in from birth, you do realize there is zero evidence for this? If anything, the latest research indicates there is no such thing as a male and female brain. If that’s so, where is this elusive “gender identity”?

If someone wants to “transition,” it should be an adult decision to make.

There’s an excellent thread at this link with folks discussing the dangers of social transition for children. Worth a read.
