I get requests all the time for evidence that most trans-identified kids grow out of it, the vast majority of them going on to be gay or lesbian adults. Here you go. Plenty of studies, helpfully compiled by Dr. James Cantor at this link:

Of course, nowadays, we’re influencing kids to STAY trans by “socially transitioning” them, using “preferred pronouns,” and puberty blockers. Wouldn’t it be interesting to just leave them alone instead of reassuring them that they really ARE the opposite sex, given how high the medical stakes are?
dude…. even if trans kids “grow out of it” (and this is one source, which isn’t good enough to convince me)…. you can detransition rather easily by going off blockers/hormones and switching pronouns back…
41 percent of trans or gender non-conforming people surveyed have attempted suicide (x). even if the above were true, which is worse? someone having to detransition, or someone literally killing themselves?
Hostile reblogs like this are based on ignorance. First, a child/teen who goes directly from puberty blockers to cross-sex hormones will be permanently sterilized; this is not even a question up for debate among medical professionals (gametes never mature without natural puberty). Second, especially for girls, “detransitioning easily” makes no sense, because testosterone results in permanent changes (including but not limited to voice changes, body hair, and genital changes). Ask any detransitioned woman if this is not true.
Most importantly, the 41% rate that is constantly utilized to terrify parents into medically transitioning their kids is misused on a daily basis. All gender nonconforming people (which includes gay/lesbian and trans-identified, among others) have a higher rate of self harm (different from actual suicide attempts), and the reasons are multifaceted. Even the authors of the 41% survey that is constantly touted/misrepresented (see link below) acknowledge this. They also found that people who have sought or obtained medical transition services have a higher rate of self harm.
One thing is certain: There is NO evidence that kids who are medically transitioned will have a lower self-harm or suicide rate in the long term. There’s no data on that, because only in the last decade have kids been used as guinea pigs in this respect.
Read the link below, and then see what you think. In the meantime, hostile rebloggers ought to examine their own consciences and see whether vilifying concerned parents who question whether the current rush to transition little kids is the right thing to do.
