Trans men are assigned female at birth, they are not "biologically female" (lmao, the whole concept of biological sex is flawed). Gender is something that is imposed on you throughout your life, it is not something you were born with. It develops, for some people.

shamelesslyunladylike answered:

Look, you’re 15. I know you mean well. I know you want to be inclusive and accomodating to everybody, and that everybody deserves to be what they want. I believe in your good intentions.

But you are just plain wrong.

You see, sex exists. It does not depend on human concepts or even on human society. Sex is just a way organism reproduction evolved because it was an advantage. It ensured a more varied gene pool, which is good for the survival of the species. Even plants have sexes, though their sexed reproduction works different than human does.

Humans are mammals, sexually dimorphic, divided into males and females. We were like this way before we formed societies, before we developed languages, before we could even be considered human. So no, the concept of biological sex is not “flawed”. It’s reality, and all you have to do is observe nature to see it’s true.

The part you’re absolutely right about is that gender is something imposed on you throughout your life. This is the social construct, the idea that males should behave a certain way and females should behave another way. What is assigned to you when you’re born, sometimes before you’re even born, is a gender. You will still have a sex if you’re abandoned in the woods and raised by wolves, even though you will not have a word for it. But gender depends on society. It’s the expectations and constrictions that are laid upon you because of your sex.

Gender is not without purpose. It doesn’t happen naturally or randomly. It’s a system that ensures males will be raised to be dominating, aggressive and entitled, and females will be raised to be subservient, meek and non-confrontational. Gender is Patriarchy’s form of self-replicating, in a way, as it ensures each generation will be indocrinating into upholding the system. This is why gender needs to be done away with.

You might thing I’m “mean” or “exclusionary” when I say trans men are female, but this is a reality no one can escape. If a regular, gender conforming male finds out that his mate is trans, he will change the way he treats his friend. Not because of “identity”, but because he knows that this person is female, and he’s been indocrinated from birth to treat females with contempt. This is why trans men suffer misogynistic violence, including rape and forced pregnancy. This is why they’re ignored in the trans community itself, as males are socialized to take the spotlight and shove female issues aside. This is why trans men have to worry about testosterone atrophying their cervixes and causing life-threatening uterine infections.

You can’t escape from your biology. You can have all the surgery and HRT in the world, but in the end your sex is coded in your DNA, in each one of your cells. But you can do away with gender. You can refuse to play into the roles that are forced upon you. You can refuse to be feminine and not take on masculinity instead. You can just be.

Once you look at it the right way, you’ll see that gender is bullshit.

T also increases a transman’s chances of ovarian cysts, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, osteoporosis. It also messes with the vagina and other self regulating parts of the body increasing frequency of yeast infections and UTIs. In addition it can have a long term effect on your heart and blood pressure and there have been many studies showing an increase in depression once on T.

All things most transmen don’t know before going on T which is fucking horrifying.

Is the ignorance of the harms of testosterone related to the “biological sex is a social construct” fallacy or is it just plain old unethical doctors?  A little bit of both?

I have no idea about anything on the Dr end of things except that there’s a lot of ignorance on the subject and there’s money involved. But T isn’t that expensive, like easily $20 for 3 months I’ve heard. But HRT for transwomen is VERY profitable and it’s all the same industry and the same culture. The culture is really the problem. We’re told “you feel like a man? Take this!” And it’s not that hard to get either, once you get to the drs and therapists. I”nformed consent” is becoming more of a big thing now, all you need to know is what to say and they’ll give you a prescription. Ppl are so quick to “match their body to their mind” or whatever. There are quiet a few detransitioned transmen but not many ppl talk about them. Ppl generally don’t talk about the problems with T bc no one cares about females, we’re outnumbered and transwoman dominate all convos in the trans community. In addition to this, transition is a generally new field and there’s very little research or long term studies. Even within that, most of them aren’t done on transmen. Even outside of the medical friend, this is true. It’s impossible to find a study about domestic violence against transmen, rape statistics etc. There are statics about ppl’s satisfaction with medical transition, rates of suicide before and after and no one pays attention to that.

It really just comes down to the whole mentality and culture. Sorry to ramble on so much lol

Why are trans activists so eager to push new gender id bills but never bother to demand research about the longterm health effects of the hormones they take. One would think that someone who “cares” so much about the safety of trans people would want to make sure that the hormones they take their entire lives are safe for them.

Take children for example: they want minors to transition and yet there is not a single research about how the puberty blockers and hormones affect the childrens health.

The only thing we have a personal experiences from people who had to take puberty blockers as children because of precocious puberty. And oh boy that really fucked their health up.

But what do trans activists say instead? The blockers are safe and reversible. How can someone believe this? It takes just a quick google search to learn more about the devastating effects these “blockers” have on peoples health.

Why even bother to call them puberty blockers? They are chemotherapy for cancer patients. And that alone should make people with common sense suspicious.

It often seems to me that, in order to fiercely defend gender politics, transactivists deactivate the rational, deductive parts of their brains, because their arguments can be blown over with a feather. Ideology over actual thinking.

Breast binders are a common early step for females transitioning to male, but they come with health risks.

Dr. Ralph Vetters, who treats transgender teens at the Sidney Borum Jr. Health Center in Boston, says binders make breathing more difficult, increase the risk for lung infections and, “by compressing the breasts, they can cause a sort of fibrosis. Scars may be a word for it. It hurts.”

‘Looking For Certainty Where It Doesn’t Exist’

What feels like a sudden burst of interest in transgender medical treatment leaves many parents dazed and confused.

“I don’t know if I’m just being the ignorant mother who’s saying, ‘Dammit, not my kid,’ ” Jackie says, slapping her leg. “I’m delighted for Nate to be a boy if we’re sure. But I’m totally torn about it.”

Jackie wants evidence, some research that will tell her what Nate’s life and health might look like in 20 years.

So much has changed in my life since I was a teenager,” says Nate’s dad, Tom. “I never wanted to have kids. I didn’t even think I wanted to get married.”

So how, Tom wonders, can Nate be sure he won’t regret beginning testosterone as a teenager?

Within months of starting weekly shots or a daily cream, Nate’s vocal cords would get longer and thicker, giving him a deeper voice. He would see new facial and body hair, all permanent changes. And the increased testosterone in Nate’s body might make him infertile.

Even if you stop taking it, there are things that don’t change,” Tom says, throwing up his hands. “I also don’t think they know everything they think they know about hormones and how they affect bodies — and will these kids all develop cancer?”

There is no indication that long-term hormone use increases the risk of cancer for transgender men or women, but there’s very little rigorous research. However, transgender men and women do face an increased risk of heart disease, Vetters says.

…there is a noticeable increase in teenage girls who say they want to become boys. He isn’t sure why, but says there is some indication that these girls “develop the perception that being a lesbian is heavily stigmatized. They realize that if they present in the male gender role and have a girlfriend they are left alone more and it’s safer.” This is just a theory. But it’s one I heard several times while reporting this story.

The MDs quoted in this surprisingly skeptical piece (about a year old) from WBUR Boston–docs who have been in the trenches with kids and teens who have gender dysphoria–have taken LOTS of heat recently;  Zucker and Drescher in particular have been demonized by transactivists.  And I wonder how much hate Nate’s parents have absorbed.

“The systolic and diastolic blood pressures in FTM transsexuals treated with androgen were significantly higher than those in untreated FTM transsexuals…

Conclusions: Long-term and high-dose administration of androgen is likely to cause increased arterial stiffness in FTM transsexuals.”

There is a honeymoon period when a person first transitions. The honeymoon is what many gender nonconforming teens see on YouTube. Information about long term health effects, and doubts about transition (expressed by FTMs themselves) is out there–but you have to hunt for it.
