Can we talk about this

This is why gender compass type talk is bullcrap and hurtful. If you struggle living with a female body day to day, but have no issue with engaging with femininity and crap, you shouldn’t have to live with that struggle when transitioning would give you a significantly better quality of life. This is why “cis” cannot mean “conforms to stereotypes of one’s birth sex.”

we’ve done it kids the trans umbrella no longer contains people with sex dysphoria

What the actual fuck is this shit

This just in: trans people aren’t really trans. Any problems you have with the configuration of your body are your problem. Medical transition is only useful as a correction for gender non conforming people. What the actual fuck? This is the exact opposite of progress.

Every time I’ve read a post like this it’s the same thing: people twisting themselves into cognitive-semantic pretzels trying to “explain” or prescribe or justify some identity that must be claimed or denied. And the means always justify the ends: Trans=good! Often, the thread starts with some 13-year-old asking the Tumblr experts who and what to identify as.

I just don’t understand what happened in the last few decades. Poisoning of the water supply seems as likely an explanation as any.

I recommend reading all the added notes on the thread for full effect. There’s even one that says, with no sarcasm, “This is why I’m still confused about gender identities.” Ya think?

I’m in a snarky mood tonight.

But seriously?? The actual headline to the article is:

I have a lot of people in my life who dissociate from being female, like identifying as demigirl for not wearing makeup, or genderfluid for liking cosplay. How do i support them, when they feel respect is being validated in their identity and pronouns and stuff?

Or in other words, how do you help deprogram them? Refer them to gender critical blogs and resources? Tackling it head on will probably result in accusations of “transphobia.” Anyone?

Bisexual woman here, and I've found that many, many pansexual/genderqueer people say that bisexuals are bigoted because "bi" means two and that makes us bigoted against the whole gender rainbow. Or they'll magnanimously say you may call yourself bisexual if you're attracted to exactly two genders. Odd how they focus on the "bi" and ignore that it's not "bigenderal".

Since when did the Gender Squad decide they get to police someone’s sexual orientation and/or who someone is attracted to? WTF.

I apologise if this is rude & feel free not to answer if you don't want to, but I was wondering what your sexual orientation is? I've seen you mentioning loving a man & loving women & it would be great to hear of someone who's gender-critical & bi because I am too but most bisexuals I know are into queer theory & most lesbians I see are gender critical but many of them (not all ofc) can say some pretty biphobic stuff that really gets to me. Just kind of lonely. It's obvs fine if you're not tho

I have had committed relationships with both men and women. So if asked, I have to honestly answer that I am bisexual, despite the stigma and stereotypes associated with that label. But the way “bisexual” is now claimed as an identity, and seen by others, seems to be different than when I was younger. “Back in the day,” being bi was seen (wrongly) as being indiscriminate or even promiscuous (which I never was—always monogamous).

Now it seems that a lot of  actually lesbian women call themselves “bi” because they won’t claim “lesbian” due to the lesbophobia and the pressure from the gender-trans fanatics not to be “monosexual.” I notice “panssexual” seems to be the cool label today, meaning you basically are open to anyone, regardless of genitals, surgical status, or biological sex. So women who are are truly bi (not “pan”) risk being seen as part of this messed up identity/gender BS. And I’m sure there are some bisexuals who attack lesbians for being too narrow or whatever, but that is just abhorrent.

I find the idea that a person is somehow obligated to have sex with someone outside their sexual orientation to be utterly repugnant and oppressive.

Fundamental sexual orientation is real. I hate that young women can’t just be who they are—lesbian, straight, or bisexual—but must be questioned, shamed, or pressured by anyone.

Not just male and female.

Half of all Millennials believe that gender exists on a spectrum, and shouldn’t be limited to the categories of male and female, according to Fusion’s Massive Millennial Poll, which surveyed 1,000 people aged 18-34 about everything from politics to dating to race issues.

The findings suggest young people are moving away from a binary conception of gender, a major shift from previous generations. (For more poll stories, click here.)

Some subsets of Millennials are even more progressive on the issue: 57 percent of female Millennials believe that gender falls on a spectrum, according to the poll, compared with 44 percent of men. And Millennials in the Northeast were even more likely to say so, at 58 percent. (In the South, that number fell to 42 percent.)

The poll found that race created substantial differences on views of gender identity.

White Millennials were the most likely to support the concept of a non-binary gender system — 55 percent of whites said gender is on a spectrum, compared to 47 percent of Latinos and 32 percent of African Americans.

We’re doomed at this rate.

Holy fuck. Brainwashed generation.

Vagina owner? Vagina haver? I didn’t go and pick this up in store, this wasn’t some clearance item I tossed into my cart not thinking about it. This is something that I was born with and has shaped every experience in this life thus far. I’m a woman, I’m a female, don’t belittle me.

yeah but not every female has a vagina and not every person with a vagina is female

Females have vaginas. That’s a fact of life, whether it harshes your mellow or not.

It is literally one of the biological criteria for being “female”.

Now, I don’t care if you choose to fail biology, but do that on your own time.

Fail biology? A flower has both the female and male sex organs. What does that make it? Male? Female? It makes it whatever that flower chooses and feels comfortable being, just like humans.

It makes it a fucking flower, are you completely nuts or just deliberately ignorant?

The day I look in the mirror and notice I’ve turned into a fucking orchid, I’ll let you know—but until then, the fact that a flower has both a stamen and a pistil isn’t proof of hermaphroditism in humans, and certainly not a refutation of human biology.

Jesus fucking christ, did you go to school at /all/?

OH MY GOD

This is a new one: Flowers can “choose” and “feel comfortable being” either a stamen or a pistil. WHO KNEW?

Speaking of "pansexual" - I think a lot of people over 30 hear "I'm panssexual" and think "oh, kind of like lesbian or bisexual - it's a sexual orientation." But many of the young women I meet who identify as pansexual will go on to say "You shouldn't discriminate based on gender" - they're not talking about attraction, they're talking about obligation: they believe that if they're not sexually available to someone, they're bigoted. There's a real generation gap here.

Somehow the message of the original gay+lesbian liberation movement—

Same-sex love is as valid as opposite-sex love

has morphed and become distorted into:

If you aren’t willing to love ANYone, regardless of genitalia and biological sex, you are a BIGOT.
